Frequently Asked Questions

Does Walkami track my location all the time?

No. Location is used during a walk you started, so your route and distance can be recorded, and it stops when the walk ends. Walkami never tracks you outside a walk.

Does Walkami drain my battery?

GPS runs only while a walk is recording, and Walkami filters readings to stay light. A typical walk takes a small sip of battery, and the moment the walk ends the app goes back to sleep.

Do I need to keep my phone unlocked while I walk?

No. Lock it and pocket it. Recording continues in the background, and the Lock Screen timer keeps you posted without unlocking.

What is the timer on my Lock Screen?

That is your walk's Live Activity. It appears while a walk is running so you can glance at your time and distance, and it goes away when the walk ends.

What happens if I stop for a coffee mid-walk?

Walkami notices after a few minutes without movement and pauses itself. Start walking again and it resumes on its own. If you stay stopped for half an hour, it gently ends the walk for you and saves it.

What if the app crashes in the middle of a walk?

Walkami keeps a snapshot of the walk in progress every few seconds. Open the app again and your walk is right where you left it.

Can I set a goal for a single walk?

Yes. Tap the goal capsule on the walk screen before you start: pick minutes for that walk, or walk free with no timer. The timer counts down to zero, celebrates, and any extra time still counts. Your daily goal lives in Profile and stays unchanged.

Can I edit or delete a walk?

Every walk has a detail screen. Edit changes the date, duration, or distance (steps re-estimate to match), and the menu has Delete.

Why wasn't my short walk saved?

Walks under a minute are not saved: too short to measure honestly. The summary tells you when that happens. Stretch the next one past a minute.

Can I use miles instead of kilometers?

Walkami follows your iPhone's Measurement System setting automatically, and Profile → Units lets you choose kilometers or miles yourself.

Does Walkami sync with Apple Health?

Not today. Steps come straight from the iPhone's own pedometer, and your walks live in Walkami.

Is Walkami available on Android?

Not yet. Walkami launched iPhone-first, and an Android version is in our plans. Write to hello@walkami.com if you want a note when it arrives.

Where is my data, and how do I delete it?

On your iPhone, nowhere else. The privacy policy has the full picture. To erase everything: Profile → Data & Privacy → Delete All My Data. Deleting the app works too.
